What is measured, and what is not.
This page states what GI JI can show, what each proof means and where inspection and human judgment remain necessary.
What a citation is
A citation enables inspection. It does not prove truth.
A citation opens the stored passage supporting a sentence, but it does not guarantee that the sentence or source is correct.
When the evidence is not there
Sources only may stop instead of answering.
In Sources only, GI JI can stop when the imported material does not support an answer.
The one result we quote
One bounded check, stated with its bound.
A defined release check recorded 0 out-of-range citations in 324 replies across five languages. That bounded check did not measure every kind of citation error and does not predict every answer or document.
First use
About a minute to a first cited answer.
A first cited answer took about one minute on five small readable files, while different files and computers may take longer.
What goes in
Readable text, and nothing pretending otherwise.
No OCR
GI JI does not include OCR, so scan-only documents need searchable text before they can be used as sources.
DOCX, not PDF
GI JI creates cited DOCX documents and does not export PDF files.
One workspace, one owner
GI JI provides one workspace for one owner and does not include team or multi-user operation.

GI JI reads a selected Obsidian vault in read-only mode and applies the skip rules chosen for that vault.

Connected AI is optional. Before it writes anything for you, GI JI stops, shows you what it wants to send, and waits for approval of that one request.

Activating a Personal licence contacts Freemius with the information needed to verify it.
First setup
First setup needs an internet connection to fetch the local AI and its models, and the time depends on the connection.
